Corbridge Angels are Up and Running!

Women’s cricket in Tynedale took another step forward last Tuesday when Corbridge Angels played their inaugural Northumberland Women’s Cricket League match against Stocksfield. Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first The Angels reached a modest 31, losing their last wicket with the last ball of the innings. After only a few weeks of coaching and practice, batting through was an achievement in itself. The highlight of the innings was a neatly clipped four through mid-wicket by Jennifer Sewell. Stocksfield passed the target to win by seven wickets, despite tidy bowling and fielding by the Corbridge rookies. The game was played in good spirit, with the Stocksfield ladies encouraging and supporting their less experienced opponents and providing excellent refreshments after the game. The team relished the experience of a competitive league match and are looking forward playing to improving standards through the season.
