U11's Outclass the Angels

The U11's boys eagerly played the Angels today in red hot temperatures matching the West Indies at Corbridge.
The Angels were missing some key players and were forced  to take a couple of hostages who happened to be passing by (thank you Debbie and Rosie Garrett) and Georgina aged 12 years. 2 players' sons from the U13's finished the 10 (thank you Aaron and Mathew).
The game was played in pairs starting from a 200 score adding runs and wide's but losing points for wickets.
The ANGELS scored 38 runs, which included a fantastic score of 21 runs from Sally (captain) plus 42 points from wides/byes.
Unfortunately the Angels suffered 7 wickets (thanks to bowlers Fergus Oliver x 4, Tom Scott, Matty Pugh, Joe Anderson and a run out bowled by Jake Smurthwaite. Final score for the ANGELS 232

The U11s who also cleverly recruited an U13 star Fergus to complete their team earned a respectable 55 runs, (particularly well done to Finn, Xan and Matty) plus 42 points from wides/byes. The U11's only lost 4 wickets (well done bowlers Aaron x 2, Matthew and Chloe.)
Final score U11's 273.

Thank you to Stephen Tiffin, Freddy Mckendrick,Harry Oliver and Tim Anderson for Umpiring the game and Sandra Tiffin (injured) who did the scoring with Lisa's assistance.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the BBQ and the delicious strawberry's and cream - Karin and Dave Smurthwaite, Karen, Tishy, Cheryl ........ all in all a fantastic day!!

The Angels look forward to a return match later in the season -watch out boys!

Angels v Angels With Dirty Faces (Under 11's!)

CALLING ALL ANGELS!

Please come and have a go at a game THIS Sunday v's Corbridge under 11's at Corbridge at 12 noon
This will be a really good chance for you to have a go at a game and practice your new skills!
It will also be great practice for the lads - some of whom are only 9 years old.

Each pair that go in to bat will face 4 overs, and if yer oot, yer not oot until the 4 overs are bowled, and then yer oot whether you were oot or not oot...simple. (In other words you get a few chances even if your bowled out in the first ball!)

The game will be competitive, but FUN and FRIENDLY!...and there will be a barbecue for all the family afterwards.

Please let Sally know if you'd be keen to take part - and bring the family with you to cheer everyone on!

Captain Gets Crocked!

'Howay man, Sandra, RUN!' I yelled, wondering why the hell she wasn't sprinting down the wicket for a much needed run. She was trying her best, but after some fabulous shots her little achilles tendon had decided that enough was enough, and it 'went.'

Alas, our Captain Fantastic is well and truly crocked, and plastered too - and sadly not with beer - though I'm sure she'll manage to raise a glass or two to her lips as she relaxes at home.

We're waiting for news of a more detailed scan, so in the meantime, we wish her all well and a VERY speedy recovery!
